FOUR PEAKS CHALLENGE - 27th - 30th JUNE 2008
Are you an active hill walker looking for a new challenge that
will take you to new heights and specatular views of the
Irish landscape?

Then look no further - we invite you to climb the highest peak
in each of the four Provinces of Ireland:
MWEELREA (Co. Mayo) Connaught - 814m
CARRANTOOHIL (Co. Kerry) Munster - 1039m
LUGHNAQUILLIA (Co. Wicklow) Leinster - 925m
SLIEVE DONARD (Co. Down) Ulster - 850m

Starting from the west coast of Co. Mayo, participants will
experience the unique landscape and challenge that each
mountain will create before finishing on the east coast of
Co. Down.

To minimise the environmental impact, only 20 places are
available and smaller walking groups will be formed of equal
ability, lead by qualified leaders. Transport, accomodation
and most meals will be provided over the "long weekend".
Participants (min age 18) will be required to provide their
own boots and clothing, including waterproofs. Advice will
be provided in terms of equipment and prepartion. There
will be a pre-meeting for participants including a day walk
in the Mournes.

COST: MINIMUM FUND RAISING TARGET £500.00.
Each person who raises over £500 will receive a Target Dry
Discovery Jacket.

Please see the "leaders" page for information on all the training courses currently in place for new and existing leaders. Spaces are limited on all these courses, so please register your interest as soon as possible.

SKILLS UPDATE:
Please note that DRIVING will now be referred to as DRIVING in the skills listing on the Award website. This was previously listed under Motorcars/Motorcycles. The listing under Motorcars/Motorcycles will also remain. Hopefully this will be more straightforward for everyone!

Award News - Northern Ireland and Award Journal
We are always on the look out for interesting articles that could be published in our local magazine (Award News - Northern Ireland), the national magazine (Award Journal) and now on the local website.

The 1st issue of 2008 - Northern Ireland will be available mid-February and thank you to everyone who contributed to this). We are now looking for articles for our next edition, due out in JApril - deadlines for any articles is the Friday 7th March. If you have a news worthy article and pictures that you would like to be considered please get in touch with Cheryl Miller in the Northern Ireland Award Office. Silver Award Presentations
The Northern Ireland Award Office would encourage Award leaders and Operating Authorities to keep sending in your Silver Award forms, through the appropriate means.

Thanks to the generosity of Kia Motors The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Northern Ireland has a wonderful 7 seater Sedona for use within its Award Units.
